200,000. Already the number goes higher. Imagine the empty seats at Thanksgiving dinners. The missed graduations and basketball games. The grandchildren never met. The parent not at a child's weddings. So much loss. So much sadness. So much of it unnecessary. I weep, and I pray.
So the Republican ratings for night one of the convention appear to be significantly lower than the Democrats. But word is that Donald Trump is holding out for the overnight numbers from Moscow.
BREAKING: Trump just confirmed he slowed coronavirus testing because it looked bad for him. Americans got sick and died because of this fraud and negligence. Trump belongs in prison for the rest of his life. Not joking.
Spoke to my beautiful friend last night - a lung doctor in the nhs. She said, while its a lovely gesture, instead of just clapping please could you just never ever vote conservative again.
New York needs more ventilators, and we are answering their call for help.
We'll be sending 140 ventilators to help NY because Oregon is in a better position right now. We must do all that we can to help those on the front lines of this response.
Just got misquoted in the NYTimes. Ugh! What the NYTimes said: Half of a reading lesson should be spent on phonics. What I said: There should be any equal emphasis on decoding & knowledge building. Half of a PHONICS lesson should be spend on applying it to reading & writing.
Looking for current professional reading/research around the impact of independent reading, particularly for K-2 learners and, if possible, for K-2 learners that are reading significantly below grade level. @edutopia@FountasPinnell @MrazKristine @LucyCalkins@TCRWP
People who tend to be optimistic are likelier than others to live to be 85 years old or more, according to a new study.
Researchers also say that even if optimism doesn't come naturally, it can be taught via therapy. https://t.co/TMVitXOpm7
I need every presidential hopeful to stop campaigning and figure out how to get the precious children in these camps safe, fed, and back in their parents arms. Stop giving interviews and start saving children. Stop talking about leading and LEAD.
Something you may have missed: the Trump administration is arguing in court that they aren't required to provide detained children at the border with soap or toothbrushes. They even argued it's OK for children to sleep on cold concrete floors.
This is downright immoral.
The GOP doesn’t care about babies at all - especially brown, black, or poor ones. If they did, they’d:
- cosponsor the Green New Deal or at LEAST have a real climate plan
- guarantee healthcare so ALL can get prenatal care
- not stand for the death+caging of babies on our border
