I asked him at the time if the MCB or Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated organisations were involved, and he refused to answer.

There's a cover-up: the Government now says it has deleted all the records.

But Dominic can just clear this up. Did his working group receive representations from any of the following organisations?

Changing the law retrospectively is a very dangerous path for any government to follow. To criminalise what an individual believed to be legal behaviour at the time undermines the whole principle of the rule of law.

If the law is not clear, accessible and known in advance of any actions we take then we enter the realm of arbitrary justice which is the hallmark of dictators and tyrants.

The huge donations given to Reform UK raise genuine questions about whether we want to have a complete laissez faire approach to political fundraising or whether we want some restrictions at an individual, constituency or party level.

Do we want an American system where money is the dominant political influence or a nanny state which restricts our freedom to do what we want with our own money, or do we seek some equilibrium between the two?

This is a massively important debate for our democracy but knee jerk reactions designed to punish individual actions or parties create not only dangerous precedents but represent a frightening view of our potential future.

This is truly a dark day for British Jews.

Today our Government has chosen to ignore the deep concerns expressed by so many of us.

The measures announced amount to little more than political flag bearing for mendacious anti-Israel rhetoric and those who harbour a dangerous obsession with the Jewish State. These measures will succeed only in bolstering the very extremism they seek to target.

On the eve of Rosh Hashanah and at a time when our community is more vulnerable than ever to the wave of extremism that has been building over recent years, these sanctions do nothing to advance the cause of peace. Nor do they make anyone safer – quite the contrary.

Gesture politics of this kind feeds into an increasingly hostile discourse about Israel, and the cumulative effect of such punitive policies is to further embolden those, at home and abroad, who use hatred as a weapon against Jews.

At a time when antisemitism in Britain remains at record levels, political leaders must exercise the greatest care and responsibility in their language about the conflict.

In recent meetings with the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary, we asked them to avoid amplifying distorted or one-sided portrayals of the conflict ahead of the High Holy Days. Last year, two Jews were killed in a terrorist attack on Heaton Park Synagogue, where the attacker was heard shouting, “This is what you get for killing our children.”

Against that backdrop, the Foreign Secretary's recent claims that medicines are being prevented from entering Gaza are deeply concerning. COGAT data disputes that account, showing that 22,500 tonnes of medical supplies have entered Gaza since the ceasefire began in October 2025.

While we share broader concerns about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, the suffering of innocent Palestinians cannot be understood without acknowledging Hamas's responsibility for launching the conflict on October 7th, continuing to hold Israeli hostages for two years, embedding its military within the civilian population, and refusing to disarm or relinquish power in line with the 20-point peace plan.

The continued singling out of the world's only Jewish state contributes to an environment in which antisemitism can flourish. At a time of heightened tensions both in the Middle East and here in the UK, political leaders must ensure that their comments are grounded in fact and reflect the complexity of the conflict.

Not everything has to be looked at through the lens of discrimination.

Conservatives managed to choose our first woman leader 51 years ago. Meanwhile Labour are celebrating Andy Burnham as their first female Prime Minister.

Claire has been promoted because she is excellent and Conservatives believe in meritocracy.

If Harriet is worried about discrimination, there is plenty in her own party to keep her busy.

Boris Johnson promoted me to the Treasury while I was on maternity leave in 2020. Nobody did a podcast episode on it because we didn’t think it was remarkable. He just knew I could do the job.

Women do not need patronising theories to explain their success. That is the point.
