🚨 Sturridge on Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest:
🗣️ Sturridge: “Liverpool will be disappointed because you don’t want to be chasing the game twice at Anfield. Forest came with a plan, they were brave with it and for long periods Liverpool struggled to control them.
But I’ll tell you who won’t be disappointed tonight, Victor Munoz. That second half might have changed a few things for him.
You could see his confidence growing during the game. He wins one ball, the crowd reacts. He tries something else, they react again. Then he scores that goal at the Kop End and suddenly you’re watching a young player who looks like he’s been playing at Anfield for years.
That’s what I liked most. Liverpool are trying to rescue the game and there’s pressure everywhere, but he wasn’t hiding from it. He actually seemed to want the ball more.
Liverpool have dropped two points and Forest will probably think they’ve dropped two as well. But if I’m Victor Munoz, I’m going home thinking I’ve just introduced myself properly to Anfield.”
My thoughts of the Liverpool game:
• Already love Munoz, he reminds me of Jota.
• Cody Gakpo CANNOT leave LFC
• I need Eki to return ASAP
• I’d take Trent back in a heartbeat
• Wirts, Nyoni and Jacquet impressed today.
• Need more depth
• Iraola deserves our support
Just a quick two cents.
Regardless of what happens in what's left of the window
It's really important that fans get behind the manager and the team. Don't let it get toxic.
Help Iraola to make the most of whatever hand he is dealt.
Up the Reds
@AdewoluAre You said it all in the first statement. 2 games 2 draws with a crop of new players and a bunch of seasoned players gone. Transitions take time and Iraola deserves more than a handful of games before we start questioning him.
I don’t doubt Messi’s talent but the way Argentina have won games, particularly looking at the referees decisions for and against the teams they have come up against, as dreadful. Would they have gotten as far as they did if it was fair?
@penuelist_ All the white SA players that I know who were really good went overseas and didn’t look back because there is an impression that they’d never get selected for national football…
