God gave me a second chance at life. Now I think about my daily activities, and say, "I get to..."
I get to fall in love with my husband again. I get to spend time with my family. I get to do the things I'm called to do.

"I'm willing to do whatever it takes to recover."
The realization that doing things on your terms hasn’t worked. The willingness to be vulnerable, to let go of the secrets and expose the lies. A rite of passage for any alcoholic. The start of freedom.

You name it, I was in control [or so I thought]. Then on that fateful day, my control was ripped away from me, and I learned real fast that I was not in control – and never had been.
Surrendering is the best thing I've ever done!

On the other side of addiction, I have come out with so much more than I started with.
If you’re going through a rough patch, just know that you could be coming out much better off than you would have been without the struggle!

You only live once. And when you're drinking, you're not really living. Trust me. Summer is better sober.
It's not too late to start your summertime sobriety!

What gave me hope in year one of my recovery?
I started seeing glimpses of me. The me contributing to ever-improving relationships. The peace that began to feel familiar. When you start to feel peace about the process, you know you’re on the right track.

I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without my huge support system. My husband is my rock. My kids have demonstrated so much grace to me. My friends are here for the long haul.

What if when we try to break out of addiction (or any sinful cycle), we are building new emotional/spiritual muscles? What if we just need to find our balance, like any small child first learning how to walk?
What if God is not judging us, but cheering us on?
#shesurrenders
Self-indulgence is a reaction to self-pity. It's when you become preoccupied with your own suffering or misfortune. Alternatively, self-care is recognizing grief or trauma and taking steps to address the root cause.
What’s your go-to self care? 🚲
#shesurrenders#selfcare
When people get into a car accident, they don't feel ashamed to get medical help right away. So why are people so afraid to call a professional when their soul is wounded?
It requires a lot of courage to face your past, to face the trauma, to face yourself.
#shesurrenders
If it's not easy, we quickly want to give up when it gets hard. That's what giving up an addiction is like. It is so hard, but we have to be patient in the waiting, in the trusting. Trust that every day God will provide all that you need to get through it!
#shesurrenders
We make thousands of little choices every day. When will I get up? What will I do first?
Will I tell someone about my drinking problem? Will I take a few moments to pray?
All the little choices add up to our habits. Lucky for us, we can make new ones.
#shesurrenders
Did you promise yourself you would not drink today? But as the afternoon wears on, you are considering it again (and hating yourself for it)?
Our community is ready for you. Are you ready to accept the invitation?

When I surrendered fully, I knew God wanted me to get out there to speak and write about the very thing I had worked so hard to keep a secret. I was terrified.
God always knows what He's doing though, because the more I shared, the freer I became.

Have you ever tried to get sober? Way to go! If you've failed a few times, that doesn't mean you are a failure - you just have more to learn (don't we all?).
Don't give up. Before you know it, you'll be walking, then running (then cycling) free!
#shesurrenders#nevergiveup
When you come face to face with Jesus and join the movement that He started, you find yourself becoming fully alive. Every day lived in surrender to Him is joyful, terrifying, exciting, impossible, empowering, and full of significance.
I invite you into that!
