Self-indulgence is a reaction to self-pity. It's when you become preoccupied with your own suffering or misfortune. Alternatively, self-care is recognizing grief or trauma and taking steps to address the root cause.

If it's not easy, we quickly want to give up when it gets hard. That's what giving up an addiction is like. It is so hard, but we have to be patient in the waiting, in the trusting. Trust that every day God will provide all that you need to get through it!

Will I tell someone about my drinking problem? Will I take a few moments to pray?

When I surrendered fully, I knew God wanted me to get out there to speak and write about the very thing I had worked so hard to keep a secret. I was terrified.

God always knows what He's doing though, because the more I shared, the freer I became.
