BREAKING: the school board for Alexandria City Public Schools @ACPSk12 just voted unanimously to change the names of both T.C. Williams High School & Matthew Maury Elementary.
TC Williams was a known segregationist.
Matthew Maury was a Confederate officer.
It's never the wrong time to do the right thing.
Thanks to our @ACPSk12 students for leading the way in advocacy for this change and to our School Board for unanimously turning the page at our only high school and one of our oldest elementary schools.

I’m Excited that #TheHateUGive is avail Tues at no charge on digital platforms. I hope the film provides a bit of understanding. Our story is a reminder to never be afraid to raise our voice in the name of justice. We must stand up for what we believe. The time for change is now!
There is an vast body of literature, research, and analysis that exists on the topic of abolition. People, specifically Black feminists, have been rigorously engaging with the idea for decades. Just because it's an idea you're not familiar with doesn't mean it's worth dismissing.
