Something that has been made clear:
We need to stop saying “This is not who we are” in “America.”
Indeed, this is not who and what the United States should be, but denial won’t make the injustices and inhumane ideologies less so.
We can’t change without truth.
I am having a hard time swallowing my rage at all the people like McConnell who led us to this very moment, evince even an *ounce* of self-satisfied sanctimony about American democracy.
Mitch McConnell wantonly paved the way for Trump to lead this insurrection. Rand Paul actively fanned the flames, pushing completely unfounded claims of fraud in our elections and stoking the call to overturn the votes of the American people.
They both should immediately resign.
I don’t know what will happen in Georgia yet, but to see a black man and a millennial doing this well in a US Senate race says a lot about the hunger in the electorate for a government that reflects the fullness of the American experience.
It should be obvious to everyone that Biden’s win in #Georgia would not have been possible without high Black turnout + Democratic support. Today there should be ZERO narratives that center white moderates as instrumental. This is a story of Black organizing and empowerment.
How fitting that votes from John Lewis’ county flip Georgia from red to blue.
“The vote is precious. It is almost sacred. It is the most powerful non-violent tool we have in a democracy."
— John Lewis
@cduangnet Have you watched the Netflix documentary on them? It was really interesting. I didn’t even know that Lisa was Thai before that! Such amazing representation.
Yo I just wanna say, what white people will never experience is being a debated demographic in a presidential debate. Nobody debates white people and how to control white people or whether or not white people deserve rights!!! This is SO uncomfortable!
