My last highlighted game of Championship Sunday at the Grassroots Showcase by @hoopseen brought a clash of styles and momentum swings as TN Impact National squared off with Shine 17U, and this one had layers to it from start to finish.
Shine wasted no time setting the tone. The ball was popping, movement was smooth, and they attacked the lane with purpose over and over, carving up the defense and stacking points with layups and smooth middy magic. It was controlled, patient, and effective. But Impact wasn’t backing down. Every time Shine tried to create separation, Impact answered with deep shots that stretched the floor and kept them within striking distance.
By the half, Shine held a 27-21 lead, but the game still felt wide open.
Out of the break, Shine turned it up another level. The defense tightened, the tempo picked up, and they started to stack stops into transition opportunities. That surge built into a 17-point lead, and for a moment, it looked like they might run away with it.
But Impact had other plans.
They dug in, found that rhythm from deep again, and came storming back with a late surge that flipped the energy in the game. Shots started falling, stops started coming, and suddenly that big lead was cut down to single digits. The pressure was real again.
And that’s where Shine showed their composure.
They settled back in, made the right plays, and closed the door strongly to secure a 63-54 win.
Shine was led by #0 @WyattShearerrr, who controlled the game with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals, making plays on both ends and setting the tone when it mattered most. Teammate #7 @tyler.g52 (IG) added 9 points and 8 rebounds, bringing toughness on the boards and doing the work that doesn’t always show up first but wins games.
For Impact, @dametime_51 carried the fight with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block, leading the charge during that late push and refusing to let his team fold.
This one had runs, counters, and grit on both sides. Shine built it, Impact tested it, and in the end, Shine held firm when the pressure peaked to close out Championship Sunday the right way.
NextUp will be in for Midwest Mania this weekend! 🔥
