@AlbertsLawrence @gtconway3d Basic misunderstanding of finance. The Federal government uses Social Security funds like a bank uses depositors’ funds. They pay for this privilege. The money is still owed plus accrued interest. Social Security could borrow from the Federal government if the law was changed.

Per the CBO, the Republicans' proposed cut to IRS funding would cost the US $26B in revenues, leading to a net deficit increase of $14B over the next decade.
