Today, I received the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu and his entourage on a courtesy visit. We are pleased that the Nigerian Army decided to celebrate its anniversary in our State which reaffirms the fact that our State is safe and secure.
We used the visit to assure the Nigerian Army of our consistent support as they have assisted in improving revenue generation for our dear country by reducing pipeline vandalism and oil bunkering.
Yesterday, I visited the site of the collapsed building on Peter Odili Road. It was indeed an unfortunate incident that could have been avoided.
As rescue operations are ongoing, I have ordered the immediate closure of the site pending proper investigations.
I understand that several efforts by the State regulatory authority to monitor the project to ensure conformity with standards were waved off. Our concerns were never about interference, but about safeguarding lives and ensuring adherence to construction regulations and standards.
We are deeply touched by the loss of human lives, as such misfortune should not have occured in modern times when professional standards and safety measures are expected to guide construction activities.
However, I commiserate with the families of the deceased and sympathise with those injured. I believe that the government will keep doing its best to mitigate future occurrences.
Rivers Politics:
In Rivers State, Governor Sim Fubara empowered one of the most neglected human resources in the state...
Because Gov. Sim Fubara did not follow Nyesom Wike's lead, many families in Rivers State are able to send their children to school, put food on the table, extend helping hands to their relatives, and live comfortably.
You're a nice guy, our Governor.
May Allah reward you.
Rivers people Home and Abroad celebrate you and continue to wish you many more years of success in your service to motherland. And may God Almighty continue to guide you with wisdom to navigate every hurdle on your path.
Happy Anniversary Your Excellency.
Today May 29, 2026 His Excellency, Sir. Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Governor, Rivers State, marks 3 years in office. As we reflect on your 3 remarkable years of service, achievements and good governance for Rivers people, I wish you a Happy Anniversary in office.
Today, we inspected the ongoing Ipo-Igwuruta/Airport road project and we were impressed with the work so far done. The road was conceived in response to repeated disruptions along the airport road by agitated community members over certain issues in the past. Considering the effect, we embarked on the project in December and today it is already at an advanced stage of completion.
We are determined to ensure that every project embarked upon by our administration is completed in due time as we will continue to put the interest of Rivers people first.
