The courage of this man is something to behold and it was a privilege to meet Tristan, Susan’s brother John and campaigners to hear their compelling call to action.
Susan was an amazing woman and I hope that, together, we can build the plan we need to save women’s lives.

Thank you @GMB for your time this morning in sharing our important message for specific research needed into the basic biology of Lobular Breast cancer. A truly powerful interview @TristanLoraine and tribute to our founder Dr. Susan Michaelis @richardm56#Lobularbreastcancer💜
Dr Susan Michaelis was diagnosed with lobular breast cancer in 2013 and pushed for further research into the disease.
Yesterday, her husband Tristan met with the health secretary Wes Streeting - a meeting Susan had hoped to attend herself before she died.
I was proud to host an event in Parliament yesterday with @lobularmoonshot to call on the government to provide vital research funding for lobular breast cancer. It was great to see so many MPs from across the political spectrum joining us to call for urgent action.
@lobularmoonshot Lobular breast cancer accounts for around 15% of all breast cancer cases, with 22 people diagnosed every day in the UK. Despite this, there are still no specific treatments, and the disease remains critically under-researched and poorly understood.
@lobularmoonshot I want to thank founder Dr Susan Michaelis and her team for their courage and determination in bringing attention to this neglected condition. Their efforts have won support from across the House.
Last week, I proudly added my name to the growing list of MPs backing the #LobularMoonShotProject, a vital campaign calling for £20 million of urgently needed research into invasive lobular breast cancer (ILC).
Lobular is the second most common type of breast cancer. It affects 22 people every day here in the UK. But unlike other forms, it rarely forms a lump and often goes undetected by mammograms and ultrasound. It behaves differently, yet it’s still treated as though it’s the same and that has to change.
I’m standing with @lobularmoonshot campaigners because lobular breast cancer deserves the focused research funding and tailored treatment pathways other cancers already receive.
Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer is the second most common type of breast cancer in the world and is not a rare cancer, with over 8,500 diagnoses annually in the UK alone. 💜
