Body condition scoring, tup breeding soundness exam +/- semen analysis, trace element testing, thin ewe screening, lamb growth rate review, fluke exposure check, abortion vaccination.. all things we can be doing now to avoid production losses in the next lambing cycle #teamsheep
@fannieculox @SteynsburgVet All mammals can get rabies, but because it is spread through saliva and therefore also via bites, we think of aggressive dogs as the stereotype.
Interesting to visit a flock last week which attributed chronic BCS loss in ewes to early fluke after grazing a new rented pasture. Investigation and a PM found Haemonchus (barber's pole) worm to be the culprit. Proper diagnosis is paramount to get treatment correct! #teamsheep
@Rupert_Sheppard@Em_the_SheepVet@FlockHealth If peak daytime temps are v high by the time average temps are warm enough for nem to hatch in spring, then the hatching can be delayed until later in year. Also now some documented cases of 2 nem hatches in one year where overwintering has not been needed for eggs to hatch. 👍🏻
Startling stuff and also testament to the commitment with which U.K. farmers and those that advise them have decided to produce food in a more sustainable manner, whilst increasing standards of welfare and environmental custodianship
Great to see https://t.co/VgcLLZtSFg making an appearance in @BritishDairying this month! Showcasing how attention to detail pays off in high yielding herds.
Last day of my A-Z musical whistlestop! Here's the last video, it's Z, obviously. https://t.co/1RJ5gGCxWM If you have enjoyed the last 26 days there's still time to donate to support the SaTH NHS at https://t.co/B6vv1Mq9Zr Thankyou!
