TIL there's a Math.log in #javascript to help debug math operations
var radius = 5;
Math.log("the area of the circle is", radius * Math.PI * radius);
I will update once I find where the output goes
interesting, if you prefix the assistant response in the middle of a word, it'll spell a typo (probably because it's not used to real tokens being split like this)
handwriting code is actually a huge time saver because I don't have to wait for Claude + read it's code (maybe) + wait for Claude again to figure out why it did something when a reviewer asks
‘BACKROOMS’ is outperforming expectations and is now set to earn $70+ on its box office opening weekend.
• Budget was $10M
• Potentially becoming top 5 highest ever for any horror movie
I wonder if there's a law in the universe that prevents us from completely comprehending how smth like the human brain works
like a thousand years in the future, would a futuristic society be able to figure out how the brain produces language? or would we be forced to turn to ML
maybe it's the modern tower of Babel: Man sought to understand the mind and created a miniature of God's creation, an affront to God, so He took away Man's ability to understand what they've made
like, training ML models can get us better results faster (like realistic physics simulations) than implementing things manually with if statements and whatnot. but while we understand the formulas we create, models are completely opaque and we end up losing any insight we'd get
the Europeans assumed the world would be balanced and have equal landmass in the southern hemisphere. kind of a shame it's mostly ocean, would've been cool if there was a new new world down there. but the Europeans would've ruined it anyways
just imagine if the new world really was a new world. like if the land bridge were impassible, we'd never notice until like the 16th century. imagine the look on Columbus' face when he finds a desolate India
presumably there'd still be a few species of American megafauna left too. could reinterpret this as a horror, like Columbus discovers America full of giant monsters
