@davidcapello Aseprite was also the first tool for me to convince me to let go of MS Paint. All the other tools I tried (available at the time) like GraphicsGale were not able to convince me for whatever reason (e.g. steep learning curve or weird workflow).

At first I explained in dialog, copying what many games already do, but this felt very disruptive to the player experience.
I solved it by using sticky notes with short explanations. The player has the option to click a note if they want more info.
