When a few people have a lot of wealth and lots of people have nothing, these are the 5 choices societies make, and we see examples of these around the world:

1. The people with wealth create employment and develop skills in the broader population.

2. The people with wealth donate to causes that indirectly create employment.

3. Governments tax the wealthy and redistribute to the needy, with varying degrees of corruption or leakages along the way.

4. Extortion networks arise that extort from the wealthy and they find enough people willing to do this work and this begets 5 below.

5. The wealthy employ vast security forces to resist being extorted.

Dharma dictates 1 and 2, with 1 preferable to 2. This is also the Biblical injunction to teach a man how to fish.

Many western societies have picked 3 (tax and redistribute that over time leads to corruption). I suspect 3 leads to 4 and 5 over time, so 3 is an unstable equilibrium.

4 and 5 are the symptoms of social collapse and decay.

What financialism does is to separate wealth from employment, through various schemes of monetary alchemy. Our ancients understood this intuitively and that is why they disapproved of usury and other "making money on money" schemes.

The nature and character of wealth determine and in turn, are determined by the nature of society - yes, it is a self-reinforcing feedback loop.

As I come close to 4 decades of my life, some of the things I have seen, experienced and believe in are (applicable only for men):

1. Your father and mother are the only people who will always want you to be better than themselves all the time
2. The older you get, the more you will understand your father.
3. When you become moderately successful, the first set of people should help are the ones who picked your bills when you were nothing. Don’t be an asshole to your old friends
4. Show up everyday. Show up when you are tired, when you are broke, when you are scared. Showing up is 80% of the battle won.
5. Cry. But cry with curtains drawn and lights switched off. No one a shit if you cry, most take pleasure out of it - deny them that pleasure
6. No one is coming to save you. Be comfortable with this
7. Don’t be the nice guy. Be a good man
8. A moment of lust will destroy decades of work. Lust is your biggest enemy
9. Avoid Cigarettes, Alcohol, Gambling. If you need to, keep a strict limit
10. If you get a late invite, don’t go. You weren’t part of the plan. Value yourself
11. Compliment your male friends subtle ways. Men don’t get compliments, be good to your homies
12. You won’t grow via age. You will grow via loss, pain, and setbacks. If it has been too easy, you haven’t matured yet
13. Make money. The world is very unfair to broke people
14. Learn to cook. At least 5 dishes
15. Invest in your shoes and take care of your feet. Once they start to give you trouble, life is very different
16. Don’t be a boring guy - no one likes a boring person. Travel. Learn music. Learn something new every year. Be someone people like to talk to
17. Never over promise and under deliver. In professional life and in personal life.
18. Dress well to work. Dress as if you will meet a C-Suite because one day you will and you don’t want to appear underdressed
19. Smell good
20. Be kind to yourself. The world will not be, but you can be!
