An interesting fact about The Cars' "Just What I Needed" (their 1978 debut single) is that the song was actually inspired by Ric Ocasek's fascination with romantic clichés and pop culture. He wanted to write a song that was both catchy and slightly ironic, capturing the excitement of infatuation while keeping it tight and minimalist!
Pretty in Pink was released 40 years ago.
The original ending had Andie choosing Duckie. Test audiences hated it. John Hughes reshot the finale so she ends up with Blane instead, completely changing the romantic legacy of the film.
Congrats to Coach on retirement. “There’s no doubt” he’s one of the best and did it his way. I’m glad he did.
Thanks for all the memories, @CoachGusMalzahn!

I am sure this will not be one of my most successful posts. Posts like this rarely are.
I don't care.
This will be one of the most important I ever posted.

THE CARS - The Cars were the prototypical new wave band. Scoring a string of hit singles during the late 70s/early 80s, selling out arena tours and becoming darlings of MTV, it appeared the band could do no wrong. But by 1988 the once tightly knit group had completely unravelled and broke up.
