TODAY'S KIDICAL MASS RIDE IS CANCELLED.
We have made the sad but sensible decision to cancel today's ride. With the yellow weather warning in force, we cannot justify continuing. We had hoped it might improve overnight, but Storm Darragh seems to be hanging around a bit longer.
@HillsboroGreens@CycleSheffield@MallinsonToby@Henry_Nottage STORM DARRUGH
The forecast weather warnings keep changing, so we have decided not to cancel tomorrow's ride yet. We'll wait and see what the situation is on Sunday morning and make a decision by 8.30am.

Safe infrastructure is essential to enable kids to cycle safely: not just to school but all the places they want to get to. Great to see @LouHaigh recognising this.
"We want every child to be able to feel safe and confident in being able to cycle to school"
@LouHaigh and @Chris_Boardman visited children in Preston to watch their @BikeabilityUK training session this #CycleToSchoolWeek ๐ฒ
Why ride? โI feel more freeโ says it all really.
80% of kids want to walk, ride and wheel to school.
I think any civilised society has a duty to enable them to do that. Thanks to @LouHaigh for highlighting the importance of what is a life skill ๐
As always, thanks go to all the wonderful volunteers who helped make this happen. Route planning, marshalling, carrying music speakers and bubble makers, our fabulous photographer, putting together the music playlist. Today's ride wouldn't have happened without you.
A year ago, with much better weather and better publicity, we had 160 people. So we think it means something that we had more people this time. Word is spreading, and people want to be able to cycle safely around our city with their kids. We hope @SheffCouncil are listening.

The only thing stopping our kids from safely biking from A-B is the roads, not their ability. Todayโs @HaringeyCyclist ride proved that, with riders from age 3 to their 80s!
If we want to reduce traffic, safe sts for cycling are the only way forward. Letโs give everyone freedom!
@benmiskell@SheffCouncil It's great to see more School Streets in Sheffield, but the journey to school is more than just the last 100m before the school gates. We need the city to (re)design streets to make them safe for kids to walk and wheel all journeys.

A generation ago, 70% of children walked to schoolโnow it's only half. At @sheffcouncil we're committed to making streets around Sheffield's schools safer for walking, wheeling and cycling. Proud to launch our 15th School Street at Mundella Primary in Norton Lees
