1)Calling for Gov action to #EndOurCladdingScandal 2)Uniting and supporting affected Sheffield leaseholders 3)Campaigning for reforms in building fire safety
The Sunday Times has set out a five-step plan to fix homes and stop the companies that helped to create the scandal from not paying to end it https://t.co/y6TFflOCez
"Gove gave developers an ultimatum to sign a government contract to fix their unsafe blocks or be banned from the market. (...)
In practice, the fine print allows them to fix only what a fire expert they appoint says they should"

✍️ Clive Betts MP, Chair of the @CommonsLUHC committee wrote to @michaelgove asking for information on who signed the developer contract and how the Govt plans to hold product manufacturers to account.

Results are in.
Many of you didn't know you could ask to meet your MP face-to-face.
We strongly recommend you do this.
You could also invite them to visit your building & meet with a group of neighbours.

We fully support the campaign for Freedom of Information to apply to social landlords.
Our research found that shared owners & leaseholders are often denied access to fire safety information about their building ❌

Someone asked in a leaseholder group if anyone else feels effected personally and emotionally by the #BuildingSafetyCrisis and #leasehold. The responses are heartbreaking. @luhc. This has to end 😔
📢📢📢
Govt opens new *pilot* funding scheme for buildings between 11-18m "where the developer cannot be traced or held responsible for remediation work"
They say this is ahead of a wider scheme next year ⏳

The Building Safety Act should have freed most leaseholders from liability - but this is not happening in reality
Building landlords such as @AvivaUK are using loopholes to avoid liability for fire-risk flat repairs

If you have a qualifying lease, you can demonstrate that you qualify for protections under the Building Safety Act with a "deed of certificate".
You can find more detail and FAQs here on the "deed of certificate". 👇

'It seems clear now that over many years, the construction industry developed, and central government presided over, a deeply flawed system.' https://t.co/oXpHrLbVgL
I spoke to @BBCBristol tonight about the lack of progress in fixing unsafe buildings + my views on waking watches (which have been imposed on 27 Council owned buildings in Bristol today). There is no evidence waking watches work.

As @MichaelGove returns to @luhc, here's an overview of what he will find in his in-tray 👇
Our campaign to #EndOurCladdingScandal continues

We welcome the return of @michaelgove to @luhc
Mr Gove was instrumental in resetting the approach to building safety. We look forward to working with him again to ensure the leaseholder protections take hold and the gaps in those protections are mitigated.

If this works as it should, today’s announcement from @UKFtweets and @RICSnews is a significant step towards helping some of the victims of the #BuildingSafetyCrisis to move on with their lives 🤞🏼
We cautiously welcome this news that should, when fully operational, help a number of people move on with their lives prior to remediation starting.
As always, these positive statements must be matched by clear and consistent action on the ground.
6/6 Last but not least, the changes today, imperfect as they are, would not have come without a lot of hard work from many campaigners, politicians and media.
I pay tribute to @EOCS_Official, @ukcag@LKPleasehold, @NLC_2019 and all the many others for their work on this issue.
