Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles dedicated the Cleveland Ohio Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sunday, August 16, 2026,

“A temple is a point of intersection between heaven and earth,” Elder @BednarDavidA said following the single dedicatory session on Sunday morning, which was broadcast to Church meetinghouses throughout the temple district and rebroadcast later in the afternoon.

“I cannot imagine a more important blessing than having greater access to the power of godliness through the ordinances of the temple,” he said, noting the significant sacrifices Latter-day Saints in many parts of the world and in the Church’s history have made to attend the temple at least once in their lifetimes.

Whenever a temple is nearby, “we have to be intentional and not let the ease of proximity become a barrier to receiving the blessings that we need in our lives,” he said.

Today, my counselors in the First Presidency and I were grateful for the opportunity to visit the Salt Lake Temple, which has been undergoing a significant renovation since 2020.

We look forward to welcoming people from throughout the world during the Salt Lake Temple Celebration and open house, to be held from April through October 2027.

Above all, we look forward to teaching about the sacred purposes of temples throughout the world. In the temple, faithful men and women receive divine instruction, sacred responsibilities, and spiritual power.

It is in the temple that eternal covenants are made that bind us and our families to our Heavenly Father and to one another for eternity.

The pictures, which were taken in the Church Administration Building on March 4, 2026, include Elder Clark G. Gilbert, who was called as an Apostle on February 11.

The First Presidency is pleased to announce that effective immediately, young women who choose to serve a full-time mission may begin their service at age 18 following graduation from high school or its equivalent.

While the Lord asks every worthy, able young man as part of his priesthood responsibility to prepare for and serve a mission, we reiterate that missionary service remains an optional opportunity for young women. We recognize that for those young women who desire to serve a full-time mission, the choice of age to begin service will not be the same for everyone.
