I’m heartbroken to hear that we lost Peabo Bryson today. His incredible voice and his kind spirit embodied the beauty of song and performance. He was so wonderful and generous to me all those years ago, when we recorded Beauty and the Beast. He made me so comfortable, as I was just learning to sing in English. He will remain for me always as a real symbol of the joy that music has brought to my life. His voice and his talent will be missed…
My heart is with your family, and may you rest in peace, Peabo.
Love,

On this day, 58 years ago, my father, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was taken from us by assassination while still fully committed to confronting poverty, racism, and militarism. Even now, the truth of who he was and what he stood for is too often softened or reshaped into something easier to accept.
But my father was not a convenient symbol. He was a man of deep conviction, disciplined courage, and unwavering love. He gave his life calling this nation to confront injustice and choose a better way.
Today, I reflect not only on the pain of his assassination, but also on the power of his witness. His life, his sacrifice, and his commitment to nonviolence still call us to reject hate, resist injustice, and create the Beloved Community.
On this day, I hold both the weight of that loss and the responsibility of that legacy.

This precious baby🙏🏽💔
My heart breaks for Skyler and her family.
So many people don’t realize that wandering (also called elopement) is one of the most serious safety risks for children with autism. Many of our kids are drawn to water — ponds, pools, lakes — and in moments it can turn tragic.
This is why awareness, safety training, swim lessons, and community vigilance matter so much.
Holding Skyler’s family in love tonight and sending strength to every autism parent who knows this fear all too well. 💙
I don’t know who needs to hear this but: Love shows up. If someone loves you they show you in many ways. Small ways, big ways, average ways but they show up. They answer. They are there when you need them.
We have people in power making broad claims around certain drugs and autism that have been continuously disproven. The degree to which those comments can undermine public health, do harm to women who are pregnant, create anxiety for parents who do have children who are autistic – is violence against the truth.
