Adv. Sheikh Nasir, Addl. Gen. Secretary, PDP, has demanded immediate compensation for the victims affected by the recent cloudburst and flash floods in Rikanwas village of Warwan, where hundreds of kanals of agricultural land were damaged.

The devastating cloudburst in Chatroo, Inderwal has left a trail of destruction, causing immense hardship to affected families and damaging homes, agricultural land and public infrastructure.

We urge the administration to act with utmost urgency by ensuring swift rescue and relief operations, providing adequate compensation to all affected families, and initiating a comprehensive rehabilitation plan without delay. Every possible resource must be mobilised to help people rebuild their lives.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this tragedy.

After careful deliberation PDP has decided to join the Jantar Mantar protest only if the restoration of Article 370 & release of political prisoners are at the heart of the agenda.

Participating in a protest that is confined solely to statehood would amount to putting the last nail in the coffin of our larger constitutional struggle for Article 370 thus legitimising BJP’s illegal August 5, 2019 actions. Our fight is for constitutional rights not one time symbolic gestures.

I am deeply saddened by the killing of a young man in Bhaderwah. Administration must immediately clarify the facts, conduct a transparent investigation & ensure accountability. Protecting human life is State’s foremost responsibility & justice must be delivered to bereaved family
