An audiologist with 20 years of experience said something in her office last month that
stopped me cold.

A patient walked in wearing AirPods Pro. She asked him to take them out for the hearing
test. He did. She ran the test. He had mild hearing loss in both ears something affecting

She told him: "The earbuds you just took out of your ears are FDA-approved hearing aids.
They can run the same hearing test I just gave you, build a clinical audiogram, and amplify
sound based on your specific hearing profile across music, phone calls, and real-world
conversation. The test takes 5 minutes. The hearing aid feature is free. And you've been
wearing the device for 2 years without knowing it could do any of this."

He stared at her.

"AirPods Pro aren't earbuds anymore. They're FDA-approved medical devices, real-time
language translators, head-tracked spatial audio systems, adaptive noise computers, heart
rate monitors, hearing protection systems, and remote camera triggers disguised as earbuds. Most people use them to listen to Spotify and take phone calls. That's 10% of what's in your ears."
