The fact that the All India Football Federation cannot afford to hire a high-quality national team coach is a disgrace in itself. One of the biggest reasons Khalid Jamil ended up with the job was the federation’s financial limitations, and that reflects poorly on the state of Indian football.

What makes the situation even more questionable is that the committee involved in finalizing his appointment included Bimal Ghosh, Khalid Jamil’s former coach.

After his appointment there was no press release nothing, on what basis, planning/vision has Khalid Jamil been elected on!

As for the football itself, the performances, tactical decisions, and overall style of play have done little to justify the optimism. Watching this team often feels more frustrating than inspiring.

At this point, maybe AIFF should start a crowdfunding campaign for the national team coach. Indian football fans care enough about the game, we might just be willing to contribute ourselves.
