A legitimate demand of Dharmendra Pradhan’s ouster will be diluted by this dumb unplanned protest, led by amateur hobbyists.
The actual victims of NEET have their exams on the 21st, they have no other option but to prepare for it, instead of parading with placards. Pradhan must be laughing.
Nobody writes songs about Jason Holder. He is 34, he is very tall & he bowls at a pace that serious fast bowlers would find mildly insulting. And yet here we are, talking about him.
Because in 2025 the man took 97 T20 wickets in a single year. Just quietly went about his business across leagues & continents & broke a record that Rashid Khan had held since 2018. Nobody saw it coming. Holder probably did, but he wouldn't say so.
What changed technically was almost anticlimactic to hear. He keep hitting the good length, angling the ball into right handers from a direction their feet weren't quite expecting. He kept his wrist steadier at release, so the seam sat upright longer & moved a little later than batters anticipated. That's it.
His height does the rest. At 6 feet 7 inches, ball arrives from somewhere above the batter's comfortable sightline & bounces into the splice of the bat repeatedly, that awkward zone where you can neither hit cleanly nor defend safely. Bowling at you from up there, Holder doesn't need to be quick. He just needs to be precise & precise he certainly is.
Gujarat Titans bought him for Rs. 7 crore before IPL 2026 & then, in a very IPL move, left him out for 6 matches. Team went 3-3 in that stretch, collapsed to 100 agaimst Mumbai Indians at one point & generally looked like a side missing something it couldn't name.
When he finally played, he took 4 for 24 against Punjab Kings. Before that 2 for 29 against RCB with 3 catches thrown in. Rashid Khan was coming back from injury, leaking runs, finding his rhythm slowly.
Holder bowled difficult overs around him & picked up 17 wickets with ecpnomy of 7.34 while the rest of the league was averaging over 10.
Yesterday when Rajsathan Royals were cruising at 100/2 in 9 Overs, Holder picked up 2 wickets to reduce them to 117/5.
He just made everything around him slightly more bearable, the way a genuinely useful person does in any situation.
At 34, after all those years carrying West Indies through chaos, he has finally found a team that lets him simply be useful.
In just 23 IPL innings, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has already crossed 90 more times than likes of Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Abhishek Sharma, Sai Sudharsan & Quinton de Kock have managed in their entire IPL careers.
A popular, quirky 1977 song from the movie Kitaab. Composed and sung by the legendary R. D. Burman, with lyrics penned by Gulzar, it features a unique blend of folk rhythms and whistle-friendly melodies. In the film, this playful, rhythmic track is picturized on a train driver steering a steam engine, who sings about his beloved, Dhanno, as his train passes through her village. It is one of the memorable songs where the music director, R. D. Burman, stepped behind the mic to sing the vocals himself. Directed by Gulzar. Song courtsey @Upjeet7

It’s seems like My coaching career comes to an end after 1.5 years, during which we played 5 tournaments and secured 5 podium finishes, including a Junior World Cup bronze medal.
I have heard about coaches getting fired after bad performances.
But this is the first time I am experiencing being removed to make way for a foreign coach.
The Hockey India President stated that the chief coach of the senior men’s team prefers a foreign head coach for the junior team, believing it will help develop Indian hockey from the junior level through to the senior level. Hence, the continued preference for foreign coaches —
Can’t Indian coaches develop Indian hockey?
On 07-03-2026, during a meeting with the Hon’ble Sports Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, I was told, “Sreejesh, we need coaches like you to step up and lead our country as we prepare for 2036.”
However, Hockey India continues to place its trust in foreign coaches over Indian ones across all four teams.

If electing a different political entity diluted your political identity, it was never there to begin with.
To All Those having meltdown on #BJP win In Bengal take Note.
@rahulpandita India, as many dont us to believe, is a thriving & pulsating democracy, with diverse examples spread across its post 1947 lifetime - Kejirwal few years back and Vijay now. I rather believe that now India has a very shrewd voting class - open to experiment but not blindly.
If you have to smell old age, go visit an old couple living in a house, with their kids settled in other parts of the world.
The house is a museum, the dressing table is older than their kids age. No matter what time of the day, it’s always afternoon in the house. Quiet. Parents trying to trick their grandkids into talking to them on WhatsApp video, giving up, then covertly asking their offspring when will she pay a visit. No pressure. “Office is hectic” they understand. They keep the phone aside & sleep off. The Panchang calendar on the wall still shows last month, no urgency to turn it over. It’s the silence of an empty nest, broken only by the second hand of the wall clock. Almost ticking towards inevitability.
Just a small anecdote of Sachin Tendulkar’s Irani Trophy debut on his birthday:
November 1989, Wankhede Stadium.
5 selectors sat in the stands with notebooks & doubts, watching a 16 year old boy try to force his way onto a plane to Pakistan. Sachin Tendulkar had already shone through the Ranji season, 583 runs showing he was ready. But the men in charge preferred patience. They wanted one more look.
Irani Trophy gave it to them. Rest of India against Delhi. Tendulkar made 39 in first innings. Promising, but not the hundred that would have made selection automatic. So the 2nd innings became an audition he could not afford to fail.
What happened next was less a cricket match & more a rescue mission. Tendulkar walked in at number 4. Scorecard around him read like a horror story. Not a single teammate managed to reach double figures after he arrived (in fact, no one crossed 6 runs). Wickets fell like dominoes. By the time 9th wicket went down, he was stranded in the 80s, the hundred slipping away with every departing batter.
Enter Gursharan Singh. Rest of India vice captain had fractured his finger in first innings, his right hand wrapped in plaster, his match effectively over. Then Raj Singh Dungarpur walked over & told him to pad up. Not to save the game, but to save the boy’s hundred.
Gursharan walked out one handed. Tendulkar, already heading back to the pavilion assuming the injured man would not bat, stopped in his tracks. Gursharan looked at him & said, “Tera hundred kar ke jayenge.”
Tendulkar smiled, took strike & told Gursharan he would handle Maninder Singh himself. They added 36 runs for last wicket & Sachin scored 103*.
A week later, he was on a flight to Karachi. Selectors had seen enough. Sometimes greatness needs a century. Sometimes it needs a teammate with a broken finger willing to stand in the firing line so the story can continue.
You remember the auction room of 2018. Some kid from Patiala, barely old enough to vote, zero first class games to his name, suddenly worth 4.8 crore. It looked like the kind of punt that destroys franchises.
7 years on, that same kid is hitting sixes like his life depends on it. Because it does.
From 2019 to 2022, Prabhsimran played just 6 IPL games. Punjab kept the chequebook open, kept him on roster, kept whispering about potential. But potential without release rots you. You spend nights in hotels carrying water bottles. You watch Gayle & Dhawan do your job. You start believing the auction price was a curse, not a blessing.
He ran to stay human. 7 kilometers, then 8. Every morning. The burning in his lungs was better than the silence of the bench.
Sachin Tendulkar told him something once; He said most boys would kill to sit where he sat. Told him to find contentment there. Sounds like advice for a monk, not a cricketer. But Prabhsimran clung to it.
Then 2023 happened. The Impact Player rule dropped. Purists screamed about death of cricket. For Prabhsimran, it was oxygen. He could swing from ball one without worrying about the collapse.
13th May 2023, Kotla. Delhi Capitals had them against the wall. He walked in & played the innings of his life. First 30 balls: 27 runs. Next 35: 76 runs. No other batter crossed even 20 runs for his team while he scored his 1st IPL century. Delhi missed the playoffs. Prabhsimran found himself.
But that is not why he bats like his life depends on it. You need to meet Sardar Surjit Singh, His father. Kidney failure. Three sessions a week hooked to machines. The house in Patiala is heavy with it. The only time the old man lights up is when his son opens for Punjab. They carry him to the couch before every game. Position the TV. For 3 hours, the sickness vanishes.
Think about that weight. Every boundary is not runs for him, It is medication. Every six is oxygen for an old man. When he says he plays for his father, he means it literally. The single joy in a week of hospital corridors & medical debt.
Come the 2025 auction, Punjab retained 2 players only. Shashank Singh & him. 4 crore for a keeper who had spent 4 years doing mostly nothing. He repaid them with 549 runs at 160 strike rate.
Shreyas Iyer gave him something simple; Freedom. Told him he was senior now. Told him one bad game would not end him. Freedom to fail.
Now he is flying. Strike rate pushing 173 this season. 80* against Mumbai off 39 balls. 51 off 25 against SRH. Each innings bigger than the last: 37, then 43, then 51, then 80*.
The boy who waited is now the man who delivers.
