Lag BaOmer Parade & Celebration In Rego Park
Queens #Shmira was honored to assist Rabbi Eli Blokh and Chabad of Rego Park during this year’s Lag BaOmer Parade & Carnival. Shmira escorted the parade safely through Yellowstone Blvd and 108th St as families and children made their way to the Queens Jewish Center for an afternoon of celebration and activities.
The event brought the community together with music, entertainment, carnival attractions, and a strong display of Jewish pride and unity throughout the neighborhood.
Grand Lag BaOmer Carnival In Rego Park
Yesterday, Queens #Shmira members were on site throughout the Grand Lag BaOmer Carnival led by Rabbi Yaakov Horvitz, assisting with public safety, crowd control, and helping the large crowd safely enjoy the afternoon’s festivities.
The family event took place on 65th Avenue between 99th Street and 102nd Street in Rego Park, featuring inflatables, live music, a petting zoo, rock climbing, performances, and activities for children and families across the community.
Lag B’Omer Hilula & Bonfire at Hashevaynu
The community gathered in Kew Garden Hills for the Lag B’Omer Hilula & Bonfire hosted by Hashevaynu. Families enjoyed an uplifting evening featuring live music by Zalman Pollack and Michel Krohn & Band, along with dancing, food, and the traditional hadlakah celebration.
Queens #Shmira members remained on site throughout the event, assisting with crowd control, and helping ensure the hadlakah was conducted safely for all attendees.

Queens #Shmira provided public safety for the Hadlakah at Kehilat Avodat Hashem, led by Rabbi Leeor Dahan, at 171st Street & Jewel Ave, allowing the Hillcrest Jewish community to safely gather and enjoy Lag BaOmer publicly.

Queens Shmira, together with the NYPD 107th Precinct, provided street closures at 147th Street and 68th Drive in Kew Gardens Hills and helped maintain a safe environment for the TOV Bet Midrash Lag BaOmer celebration, held in honor of the hilula of the Rashbi and led by Rav Menashe Tzadka.
🚨 MISSING CHILD LOCATED SAFELY IN KGH 🚨
Last night just before 7:30 p.m., Shmira received a hotline call regarding a 10-year-old child in Kew Gardens Hills who vanished during a bike ride.
Members quickly mobilized and working alongside the @NYPD107Pct conducted a thorough investigation and search, canvassing local businesses, parks, front lawns, friends’ homes, and nearby shuls.
Surveillance footage was reviewed, and outreach efforts were made until the child was found safe and reunited with his parents.

🚨LAST NIGHT MVA ON 73RD AVE & MAIN ST
Last night, a Shmira member on patrol came upon an accident at 73rd Ave & Main St. The member immediately checked on both occupants and 911 was called.
One driver refused medical attention, while officers determined the other driver was not fit to continue driving and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Hatzalah also responded and evaluated one of the drivers on scene.

On Thursday morning, April 30, between ~1:30 a.m. and 3, a male was seen going through multiple vehicles along 150th Street in Kew Gardens Hills.
Credit cards, debit cards, and other personal belongings were taken.

Recently released footage shows the male involved in the car break-ins using stolen credit and debit cards at a deli on Union Turnpike.
These cards were taken during the incidents reported along 150th Street in Kew Gardens Hills.
If your vehicle had items stolen during the early morning hours of Thursday, April 30, please come forward. Any additional surveillance footage from the area may also be helpful.

🚨 BREAKING: SWASTIKA VANDALISM IN FOREST HILLS 🚨
Queens Shmira is aware and on scene alongside Queens Patrol Borough North and NYPD 112 Precinct regarding multiple swastikas that appeared overnight on the eve of Lag BaOmer in the Forest Hills area. Council Member Lynn Schulman is also on scene.
Most notably, one was discovered on a garage, and another at Congregation Machane Chodosh located at 108th St & 67th Rd — also known as the Holocaust Memorial corner. The symbol was found covering the cornerstone dedicated to survivors of Kristallnacht.
This is deeply disturbing and will not be tolerated in our community. The situation is currently under investigation. The Department of Sanitation is expected to clean and remove the vandalism tomorrow.

Queens #Shmira has received multiple calls over the past week regarding airbags being stolen from vehicles, particularly Honda and Acura models, in and around @NYPD107Pct & @NYPD112Pct areas.
Our members have been responding to these reports and are actively reviewing surveillance/CCTV footage from nearby locations to help identify the individuals responsible. Information gathered has been shared with the NYPD to assist in the ongoing investigation & help prevent further incidents in our community.
