@BornThisWay1966@fordnation@RobFlackEML@BrianSaunderson why aren’t you thinking about the industry itself not yourself and your opinion but in fact that these people who make the decisions are disconnected from agriculture. The only way for us to tell our stories, the story of agriculture is to show them first
hand. 2/4
@BornThisWay1966@fordnation@RobFlackEML@BrianSaunderson Have you not thought of the fact that if we don’t show them what we do how ever will they know? Politicians make decisions on our behalf whether we like it or not. Instead of writing striking opinions like this 1/4
So we MAY have worn cow hats yesterday around an Ontario dairy farm.
We were given a fantastic tour, and honestly their milk (particularly chocolate and strawberry) is off the charts.
It feels great to be visiting (& putting eyes on) deserving Ontario businesses again!
@FoodProfessor@DanaMcCauley @dinnerwithjulie @martinkouprie@dfc_plc I’m thankful for our communities purchasing quality Canadian dairy products. I’m 32 years old my sister 30 and my husband 34. We plan on being here for a long time. Continuing to write the next chapters on our farm.
@FoodProfessor@DanaMcCauley @dinnerwithjulie @martinkouprie@dfc_plc Many farmers if you look beyond the barn door have stories of how they got to where they are today. In our case our Opa and Oma coming from Holland with their children after the war, buying the land which we farm now. Generation after generation continuing on the family farm.
@FoodProfessor@DanaMcCauley @dinnerwithjulie @martinkouprie@dfc_plc Food is political so is religion, education and well everything in life. It seems your version of the story is not about butter but ranting about supply management. There’s always two sides to every story. I’m proud to wake up every morning and be part of an incredible industry
@DanaMcCauley It is! Thanks for purchasing the garlic butter! You should try our ghee! It’s stellar for cooking and I’ll be first to admit I love the nutty flavour it has even when spread on my bagel in the morning. The turmeric ghee I use as a sub for olive oil.
@DanaMcCauley Haven’t seen the research yet to say it’s specifically from the palm byproducts. I’d love to see that though as we definitely love to nerd out over here about the science of food. I have been checking every time I use our butter these days and it’s still getting soft.
@DanaMcCauley@MillersDairy Palm oil by-products are used in animal feed as an energy supplement when feed supplies are low or are of poor quality due to Mother Nature. Feed supplies and the quality of feed are a direct result of the weather during cropping season.
@DanaMcCauley@MillersDairy We don’t fed palm oil byproducts. It seems to be a misconception that it is palm oil but when added to animal feed it is the byproduct of palm oil not palm oil itself. You will find palm oil in make-up, many dry good grocery items as well as baby formula.
On World Milk Day I look back fondly at my visit to @SheldonDairy in Loretto with Marianne Edward and Hannview Farm's @denhaane last July. It was a pleasure to spend time with the den Haan sisters touring the facility and farm.#WorldMilkDay#QualityCanadianMilk@dfc_plc
