@TrengoveSam@janadixon_ When we get wet Augusts we lose crop comp and the ARG takes over. The Voraxor 200ml treatments are controlling 55-65 plants/m so I was trying calculate the return.
The BigRed is a postcard picture variety. Less heads/m than we aimed for but more grains / head - average daily temp during total grain fill days so far is 13.72deg 👌
Have you registered for our Bordertown Spring Field Day this Thursday yet? Come and take a look at the latest research taking place as part of a new @theGRDC initiative 'Hyper Yielding and Profitable Crops' led by Dr Kenton Porker @CSIRO.

We'd like to hear from legume growers across Australia about inoculation practice to help us design relevant research. Should take 15 minutes or so; and we'll send out GRDC guides to inoculation to interested participants. Please share/retweet. Thankyou!
@BrendanKupke ungrazed PGR free Newton looking a bit flat at the NVT but the grazing off paddocks has been big. Are you getting a lodging score off your site?
@Dan_Feder88@agrobaz@MartinMurray_Ag I think there’s a number of practices similar to flagging down crop dusters done in that era, 60 years ago dad used to get inside the grain storage during filling and push the grain to the sides while it was being treated with now discontinued insecticides.
@sabbott02@lingy_smith Stoddard published a paper on the Limits to Retention of Fertilized Flowers in Faba Beans. TLDR once a flower opens the adjacent leafs have 4 days to acclimate enough radiation from available light. Your beans look crowded and sun blocked by a tall fence 🤷♂️
@CotherGrant@theGRDC@UniofAdelaide It’s taken decades to perfect our companion cropping strategies allowing vetch to boost bean drymatter whilst setting a tonne of seed.
@AshlinRodman43 Yes, and no. The cereals and canola look great at the moment, beans catching up. But our weather stats aren’t great. As usual it all comes down to the spring 🤞
