My father (68, white, straight, male): "Hey, can you explain this bear in the woods thing to me? I don't understand. Obviously, women would rather meet a random gay man in the woods. But why does he have to be a bear?"
when raz segal, the israeli-american historian, gained attention for calling israel’s war in gaza "a textbook case of genocide" back in october, the name sounded familiar so i googled him and realized he was the author of a book that i had stumbled on by accident several years
A lot has been said today by the right about Biden proclaiming Transgender Awareness Day on March 31. Yes, the day has always been observed on the last day of March, which happens this year also to be Easter, so this is a whole lot of manufactured anger.
But make no mistake. The right assumes that there is something *wrong* with recognizing the date at all, never mind when it falls. To them I say, your undisguised hate and intolerance is a great example of why we need days like this in the first place.
You want the trans community to simply disappear, to be invisible like before, just like you wanted the gay community to before. Well, sorry, that’s not going to happen. Get over it.
Now I’m going to go paint some gender non-binary eggs.
Man in cream, "I feel like you would need to be pretty far removed to think that Rishi Sunak and this government have done well in the past five years, let alone the past 14 years, which has felt like a 14 year long episode of the thick of it"
"You can't run on the roads because there are so many pot holes. You can't run on NHS waiting times because they're terrible. You can't run on the economy"
"I have noticed recently that Rishi Sunak will tweet that he's done these things that we've lowered this, lowered that. He'll get community noted. Quite a bit"
"It's worrying when the Prime Minister is openly saying we're doing all these great things. But it's really obvious by the stats, by everything, that that's just not true, is it" #BBCQT
How can calling for a ceasefire be controversial? It’s literally asking people killing civilians to stop. You can ignore the calls, disagree with them or try to explain why the killing ‘must’ continue, but trying to silence calls to end this carnage goes against all our values.
Current fav is from WE ARE ALL GHOSTS IN THE FOREST
'She returned with the boy ten days before the rains. The boy was hardly to blame but still, first came the stranger and then came the rains.'
I'm usually a planner, but I started this book with this line & nothing else! 😱
