Hey friends, I've decided to leave this hellscape of an app until it's under new management. In the meantime I've decided to head over to BlueSky, @ShellELittle. Feel free to follow me there as I'll be dropping some updates on my inclusive designer course & lectures there! ๐๐
Over the last several months, I have been investigating rumors that games accessibility advocate Susan Banks, Tubi Hamid, and Deb Vaughan were real people. Here's what I found: https://t.co/1FOdVeXH4K
This is required reading. Grant has spent months investigating this and gone through extreme emotional turmoil writing it. He is extremely trustworthy, and his journalistic integrity is solid. The accessibility community is hurting today, but we will endure. While we are dealing with the outcome of this, please be kind to the community, including Grant.
My thoughts: If you've seen me in person the past few months and I've seemed off, this is why. Someone I trusted, worked with, made content with, and confided in broke my heart with all his lies, including hearing about outrageous lies he has told about me to other people. But I am also not the only one this has happened to. I'll be okay. We'll be okay. We're just dealing with a lot.
For games accessibility folks reading the IGN news - please be kind to yourself, and be kind to others.
This'll be heavy news for the community, with so many of us having been connected with the person & situations discussed. We'll get through it together, as we have done before

Doing my monthly watching of @ShellELittle's Accessibility to Burnout Pipeline talk from axecon since it's a high anxiety day and a free talk is cheaper than therapy.
A new Access Designed is up! 2023 is full of surprise accessibility announcements, both hardware and software. For this year's GAAD, I decided to list some of my favorites. Read my latest column on @IGN here:

My next #GameAccessibility talk is officially going to be around designing games with light sensitivity, photophobia, and flashing sensitivity in mind. This includes people with migraines, brain injuries, sensory issues, and epilepsy. What cha think @GA_Conf@a11yTO??? ๐๐๐

The irony of spending #GAAD23 in the ER w/ subluxed hips & a new herniated disc is NOT lost on me. My body _really_ wanted me to be aware of #a11y. Yet I can STILL convince myself I don't have #hEDS. Why get doctors to gaslight you when you can do it yourself for free?? ๐ซ ๐๐
