The Stratford Centre is currently closed following a fire earlier this evening. A rest centre at the Community Road Community Centre is now in operation and is available to anyone in the area who needs it.
#NewhamRoughsleepingteam in partnership with local charities, voluntary groups, commissioned providers and residents met this morning to review the draft Homelessness & Rough Sleeping Strategy. Very Positive feedback was received. A lot more to do but already delivering. #OurDay
In October the #NewhamRoughsleepingteam were successful in removing 7 occupied tents and helped those individuals take up offers of suitable short stay accommodation elsewhere.
In October the #NewhamRoughSleepingTeam engaged with 202 individual rough sleepers in #Newham which was over 853 separate interactions. The team were able to support 41 people into short stay accommodation away from the streets.
The #NewhamRoughSleepingTeam also accompanied a rough sleeper to the pan-London no second night out hub, as they were new to sleeping rough on the streets. This will ensure the rough sleeper does not join the sleeping on the streets community and become entrenched.
The #NewhamRoughSleepingTeam took food donations to short term accommodation where rough sleepers are helped to break the cycle of sleeping rough in #Newham.
Today the #NewhamRoughSleepingTeam engaged with and supported three #roughsleepers off the streets in Stratford and removed five tents in partnership with @IxactLimited cleansing team which filled up a 7.5 ton caged vehicle. Under the car park ramp now looking cleaner and tidier
