We Started 4 Years ago and it was never about one election or saving America - we've always focused on the collective upliftment of Black women and the communities we serve. That doesn't not change. See you Sunday-
Please don't tell me your teaching methods and materials are culturally relevant, inclusive, or liberatory if they produce illiterate children. Just don't.
In all fairness, I did not watch all of DJT’s interview with Joe Rogan, but I did catch his blurb about justifying his tariffs using the mindset of the 1890’s. The 1890’s. I don’t think I need to explain why basing an economic agenda off of policy from 130 years ago, but I’m curious about something. I know he claimed that America was so rich because of the tariffs, but are we acknowledging the fact that the US Government was so broke it had to be bailed out by JP Morgan in 1895 and 1907? Like are we to forget about that entirely?
I was recently reminded of something. I’ve mentioned before the importance of voting because our ancestors fought for our right to do so, but we have to remember that those ancestors are still alive with us today. My great grandmother is 102, born in 1922. She was 42 when the Civil Rights Act passed. Another grandma of mine was 14 when it passed. Shoot, Ruby Bridges is only 10 years older than Vice President Harris. I say all of this to say that this history is not as old as people make it out to be. There are people serving in Congress who were doing so when Jim Crow was the law of the land. I figured we should put these things in perspective to help us understand how important voting really is.
