@Rwandapolice As mentioned, you have created a ripple effect in society. These are highlights of our current issues as women And you opened this door, therefore you need to close it.
You must do so to protect women and girls who should never face this kind of humiliation.
As we wait for the official statement, MUTABARUKA has to be held accountable on what he said on air, a whole journalist advocating for Rapists is mad crazy
These pictures are from an exhibition called “What Were You Wearing?” It shows what survivors were wearing when they were sexually assaulted. Clothes have never and will never be the reason someone gets raped!!
If and I repeat, IF it is true that DJ Toxxyk was drunk driving when he killed a police officer, then we must stop softening the language around what happened.
This was not an unfortunate incident, it was a preventable act caused by reckless behaviour. Driving under the influence is a choice, and when that choice costs a life, it must not be sanitised.
I call it a choice because alternatives exist, and many people use them every day. He could have taken a cab and left his car at home, as countless people do when they plan to drink. He could have arranged for someone to drive him home before he even started drinking. He could have planned ahead. None of these options are extraordinary; they are basic, responsible decisions.
Three years ago, I lost my young brother and speaking from experience, seeing someone young die because of someone else’s selfish decision makes moments like this even harder to watch. You live the rest of your life with the unanswered questions, and the constant knowledge that it never had to happen don’t give families of the bereaved the luxury of moving on just because the news cycle does.
What makes this even more painful is how quickly public sympathy seems to be shifting toward the DJ because he is a celebrity. Fame should never dilute accountability or the gravity of the harm caused.
Sanitising this kind of violence dishonours the officer who died while serving his country and sends a dangerous message that status can soften consequences.
If indeed alcohol was involved, then this was a serious crime with irreversible consequences and it should be treated, spoken about, and judged as such.
May the Officer whose name we should know and say out loud rest in peace.
