Islamabad in Surrey: Not a Viral Surprise — A Parallel Society With Planning Permission
TILFORD, SURREY — There is a place called Islamabad in England. That much is true. What is not true is the sudden-discovery panic that it sprang up overnight behind barbed wire as a sealed “Muslim-only town” the councils somehow missed.
The record is older, quieter, and in some ways more serious.
On Sheephatch Lane outside Tilford, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community bought the old Sheephatch Camp School site in 1984 for roughly £423,000. They named it Islamabad — “abode of peace.” For years it hosted their UK gatherings. In 2019, after Waverley planning approval for a full rebuild on about 10 hectares, they opened the landmark Mubarak Mosque, moved the community’s international headquarters here from London, and installed the caliph’s residence alongside offices, MTA studios, a multi-purpose hall, equestrian facilities and dozens of homes. Civic guests — MPs included — attended the inauguration.
Internal estate roads carry names such as Mustafa Thabit Road. Security and controlled access exist, as they do at many VIP religious compounds. That is not the same as inventing a secret no-go city that “just appeared.”
So why does the viral clip still land?
Because the picture — an English village lane opening onto a self-contained Islamic headquarters with its own streets, mosque, housing and media arm — is exactly what millions of Britons mean when they say parallel society. Not a rumour. A campus. Bought legally. Expanded with council consent. Named for another civilisation’s capital. Flying the flag of a global religious structure whose leader lives on Surrey soil while English towns argue over hotel beds for Channel arrivals.
Ahmadis are not ISIS. They are a sect often persecuted elsewhere and keen to stress loyalty and “Love for All.” Fine. Loyalty is not the test Britain failed. Scale and sovereignty are. A Christian country that cannot say no to demographic and institutional enclaves — however polite the press release — is a country managing its own replacement with clipboards.
Remigration is not about kicking down the door of every mosque opened in 2019. It is about ending the political religion that treats every expansion of Islamic infrastructure as inevitable “diversity,” every objection as hate, and every English high street as fair game for transformation. Close the Channel. End the hotels. Stop the settlements-by-stealth narrative and the settlements-by-planning-permission reality. One law. One public culture. No imported capitals in the Surrey woods.
The viral posts lied about the timeline. They did not invent the question.
Islamabad, Tilford has been answering it since 1984. Britain still pretends not to hear.
There is no village in Britain run by sharia law called Islamabad.
What sits outside Tilford in Surrey is a private Ahmadiyya estate bought in 1984 on the old Sheephatch Camp School. They named it Islamabad. It is their headquarters, with a mosque, offices, houses and a gate, because it is private land. Waverley Council approved the rebuild. English law still runs the planning, the police and the courts.
Ahmadiyya is a sect. Orthodox Islam does not accept them as Muslims. Pakistan wrote that into law and has treated them as heretics for decades, which is why their fourth caliph left that country in 1984 and why their fifth now lives on this site.
Street names and a fence do not make a parallel state. They open the grounds for village dinners and have helped raise money for the local church.
A tuck shop on a map is not a caliphate, and a sect the rest of the Muslim world rejects is not a sharia takeover of Surrey.
CONGRATULATIONS, Ajmal Sahib (Qaid Mka Dehli)!

Praying for Peace in the Muslim World
As His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba) reminded us in this week’s Friday Sermon, the Muslim world is facing great turmoil and division. At such a critical time, believers must turn to Allah the Almighty with humility and increase their prayers for peace, unity and protection for the Ummah. In times of discord, sincere prayer remains the most powerful means of seeking Allah’s help and mercy.
