The dedication in my next book.

When the evidence challenges our current way of thinking and practicing, it's not challenging our identity as a person, but sometimes we take it that way and cling hard to defend/protect it.
We can either put our head down and keep going, or we can integrate it and shift a little
(4/4) Grateful for progress, but many still suffer. Thanks to colleagues & @long_covid. We need research, education, support. Gaslighting is real. Let's stop pretending Long Covid has gone away. WE NEED ACTION NOW! #LongCovidAwarenessDay
Me at #LongCovid worst:
(1/4) Dropping to PT hours, drained savings on road to slow recovery. Many aren't so privileged. Resting heartrate over 120; trying to walk shot it up over 200. Wore shades & earplugs indoors for photosensitivity & hyperacusis. Hair loss, rashes, pustules.
(3/4) Sheer exhaustion and fatigue. Had 49 troubling symptoms with multi-organ issues. Asthma, diabetes, high cholesterol now. Had to educate clinicians, info wasn't getting out fast enough. Saw many clinician colleagues struggling with LC or #burnout.
Never *ever ever* select a PT or healthcare provider based on how they LOOK. โโ
Select them based on knowledge, expertise, listening skills + personal connection๐ฅ

A nurse referred to me as the tech (twice) after I introduced myself as the resident.
She later โapologizedโ stating that normally doctors are dressed nicely, which is why she didnโt recognize me (Iโm in blue figs scrubs and a patagonia) aka what every resident wears ๐
