The birds are SUFFERING in the hands of CFIA, under the protection of the RCMP
One of the ostriches has a rope stuck around its neck, a CFIA agent in a hazmat suit has been trying, and failing, to help.
A family member or farmer could do this in minutes
ALARMING: The CFIA is removing the cameras from the ostrich pens, citing "operational security." It seems like they want to be ready to pull the trigger at a moment's notice and most importantly, they don't want anyone to witness their cruel brutality.
Someone needs to rent a lift. They've closed the air space. They're doing everything they can to hide this atrocity. It's frankly unacceptable. The public needs to see it.
The stay continues... for now. But the CFIA is in legal possession of the birds.
UPDATE: The stay is temporary while the Supreme Court decides whether or not to take the Ostrich Farm case. In the meantime, the farm does not have ownership of the birds and cannot feed them or care for them.
The CFIA and authorities are not removing their hay contraption or equipment.
Now is the time for MPs to speak out. History will remember you and how you respond to this cruel injustice.
Thank you Viva Frei for posting the order.
UPDATE: A First Nations Band has become involved and declared the area "unceded territory" and that "these birds are not to be touched"
Katie gave the RCMP officer in charge some papers to pass along.
I'm not sure about the legality of any of this but this certainly adds another layer of complexity here.
FIRE UPDATE: Dave from Universal Ostrich farm says RCMP told him the fire department has the fire under control and the birds are safe.
The farm offered pumps, hoses and equipment to help fight the fire but officials refused.
TYRANNICAL $80 MILLION DOLLAR OSTRICH FARM FINE THREAT
The CFIA threatened the Ostrich farm with a $200,000 fine for EACH bird they dare to test. They have about 400 birds, so that means a roughly EIGHTY MILLION DOLLAR FINE if they test their animals and prove they're healthy.
So they haven't been able to test them.
The CFIA refuses to test the birds. The ostriches have been healthy for more than 200 days by all accounts and extensive video evidence of frolicking ostriches.
As far as I can gather, they haven't been "tested" since December.
Total sham.
A boy went missing on Sunday, but instead of searching for a lost child, 40+ RCMP officer went to the Ostrich farm. That's 40 officers, drones, and K9 dogs that should have been out searching for the lost child. Total mis-allocation of priorities and resources.
