How Sheriff works ? 🛡️

We start with a clean, reliable data source: a Base RPC endpoint from PublicNode.

Our current setup uses:

This gives us direct access to on-chain activity on Base with a privacy first, MEV protected RPC layer.

A transaction below the minimum alert value is ignored.

A transaction above it enters the detection flow.

That means @Sheriff_Agent can be tuned for:

- broad surveillance
- high value monitoring
- whale tracking
- focused investigation workflows

We also support configurable thresholds through our monitoring layer.

In the current build, the system can be run with commands like:

python -m base_monitor --min-alert-value 0.1

This lets us control the alert sensitivity depending on the investigation context.

One of the visible rules in our current pipeline is:

[HR002] Rapid Movement

This rule looks for wallet activity that happens too quickly within a short time window.

For example :

5 txs in 300s
29 txs in 300s
That’s the kind of pattern we want to surface immediately.

The core of the system is a heuristic engine.

We apply rule based logic to group transactions into behavior classes such as:

- rapid movement
- large transfers
- high frequency activity
- suspicious wallet patterns
- potential bot like behavior

From there, @Sheriff_Agent continuously ingests transactions and feeds them into our monitoring pipeline.

The goal is not just to “see” transactions

it’s to classify behavior and separate normal activity from suspicious patterns.
