In the Robin Hood legend, the Sheriff of Nottingham is the main villain a corrupt, power-hungry official who slaps heavy taxes on the poor and hunts Robin Hood and his Merry Men in Sherwood Forest.
Robinhood’s founders have been called the Sheriff of Nottingham on several occasions in articles, tweets and all over WSB. Commentators say the app isn’t the rebel hero it claims to be it’s more like the greedy Sheriff, taking from everyday traders to benefit big institutions. People have directly labeled Robinhood more Sheriff than Robin Hood.
