Today’s “Odd Tank” is the 🇺🇸 American ‘M24 No. 594’

In 1946 a study on foreign running gear was conducted on a turretless M24 Chaffee Light tank, numbered as 594, which used the tracks and wheels from the Sd.Kfz. 8 halftrack (seen in picture 4). The turret was removed for this study to lower the weight of the vehicle to better match the weight capacity of the suspension system.

The first T32E1 prototype was finished #OTD in 1946. The only difference between this and the base T32 is that the hull armour was rolled instead of cast. Neither variant saw mass production. #tanks #History
