When all is said and done, there needs to be massive changes to academia.
There is no reason why every single trainee on my TL has a story of unreasonable struggles in our doctoral education.
Thinking of all of the mental health providers (especially clinicians of color) who will be helping others process this slew of racist and biased violence before processing it themselves…
But have you seen recent graduates? Do you know how much residents make, or attorneys who are not in big law?
Decisions that impact our socioeconomic future cannot be based on what our respective fields looked like 20, 50, 100 years ago.
The desire for graduates of traditional white collar professions to *not* receive student loan forgiveness is based on the same antiquated ideals that esteems them as “white collar”.
That on the surface, these are careers of prestige, power and lots of money.
