Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, at the 50 year anniversary of the Birmingham pub bombings. We’ll hear from families, politicians and dignitaries on this important and emotional day for the city #justiceforthe21
The height of England’s (short) mango window is approaching so I woke up at 3am on Saturday to source the best (alongside the city’s shopkeepers😂)
Saw some sights, no regrets. Story coming @birmingham_live
A brilliant and fascinating masterclass hosted by @vi_gayle on how to find and tell great local stories, featuring @naomi_desouza, @MarcDeanie & @JoshuaStokesITV.
Thank you to all the speakers for offering advice directly to our early career and student Fellows who had plenty of questions.
Reassuring to see vibrant, story breaking, community journalism is still very much alive!
Personal news update - I'm pleased to say, as of next week I will be an online journalist for BBC East Midlands, based in Nottingham
Looking forward to getting started! (DMs open)
Dramatic scenes this morning as Broad Street left completely blocked following a collision between a lorry and tram. @nathanc1999 is at the scene for us this morning where eye-witnesses described a "bang" and "scrape". Updates👇 https://t.co/cnUwCj2D0Y
Well this is pretty amazing. These mates from Brum and Solihull scaled the 3 peaks in bitter conditions, to raise more than £5k for our #Brumwish campaign. All because they wanted to make sure struggling families had gifts to open this Christmas.

It's true, our @birmingham_live#Brumwish collection point is filling up nicely at Edgbaston stadium. Companies have matched donations, people struggling themselves have bought a present for kids in the city, one family even sent in a new Villa shirt

Join us live on @birmingham_live Facebook page shortly from Birmingham Remembrance Parade. Big crowds ahead of the service, if you’re not able to make it do tune in
Last one from me tonight - what a day! Prince and Princess of Wales make 'inspiring' visit to Brum with jokes, challenges and mental health chat https://t.co/axwOP1vqRd
Dr Alex George, mental health ambassador and former Love Island star, campaigns regularly for people to be “anti-stigma” about accessing help. Alex told us the Prince and Princess of Wales are “fantastic” in the work they do
The Princess of Wales made a speech to around 100 young people on the work she and Prince William are doing on how young people can build resilience and navigate the difficulties of life. William looks on as she gets a big applause
A bit of a closer look as the Prince and Princess of Wales arrived in Birmingham this afternoon. Kate is sporting a new bangs-style haircut and a bright yellow blazer
We’re joining the Princess of Wales as she sits in on a session with young people discussing the importance of sharing their emotions. The Royal couple are visiting Birmingham to mark World Mental Health Day
Tabor Living provides homeless accommodation in partnership with Father Hudson’s Care, and it's based in the former priest quarters of a Brum church. Residents must follow rules, and staff told me some have been left "blown away" with the support offered https://t.co/a50r0weg2k
Homelessness is everywhere you look in Birmingham, it is confronting as you go through the city centre. A few weeks ago on what felt like the last day of summer, I visited these pods that form emergency homeless accommodation. Residents included a builder and restaurant worker
Impressive turnout for the @labourlabel garment worker rally in Leicester today. Grateful to everyone who spoke to me, especially those in very vulnerable positions
One woman said to me in Gujarati: 'We just want to have a voice'
More on this tomorrow
