Shia vs Sunni Debate Announcement
In the near future, I would like to debate a Twelver Shii scholar or public figure on the broad topic of what is the correct understanding of Islam: Sunni or Shii?
Whoever is interested, I have one main condition: that it be a civil debate, no vulgarity against Sahaba, and the opponent agreeing that we should remain respectful without inflaming sectarianism in these sensitive times.
If a Shii is interested, please leave a reply or other contact and we can begin to set something up. I'm thinking probably within the next 2 or 3 months we can set a date inshaAllah.
A Question to ask Sunnis 🤔
According to @Farid_0v in his book about the Maqtal of Imam al-Husayn (AS), the Muslims unanimously agreed upon the bay'ah of Yazid b. Mu'awiyah as narrated by Habib b. Maslama al-Fihri. However, Habib died in the year 42 AH, while Husayn would be killed nearly 20 years later in 61 AH.
Setting aside the historical innaccuracy of this claim, if the Ummah had consenus and agreement upon Yazid's caliphate, 20 years in advance of his death, this challenges the integrity of al-Husayn (AS).
He had opposed Yazid's caliphate since the time of Mu'awiyah and continued to oppose it after his death in Medina, long before he got any letters from Kufa.
So the question is: Did Husayn (AS) cause fitna by fighting against a man whom there was consensus about?
According to mainstream Sunni views, yes he did. Even Ibn Taymiyyah writes in his “refutation” of Shi'ism, Minhaj al-Sunnah 4/530:
فتبين أن الأمر على ما قاله أولئك، ولم يكن في الخروج لا مصلحة دين ولا مصلحة دنيا
It became clear that the matter was as those people had said: in the uprising (of al-Husayn) there was neither benefit for religion nor for worldly affairs.
How shall we feel about a faith that sees the death of the master of Heaven as one that spread fitna and that he was better of remaining in his land?
Let's hear your thoughts 💭

@RealTalk_PK @Daniyal64587263 Sunni books is what will be used in the entire analysis and research, with Shi'a references made to fill in gaps and clear up contradictions.
We apologise for our recent inactivity since Muharram. However, the reason was due to a big project we decided to undertake which has taken has some time to complete.
Finally, we have come close to finishing it, keep a look out for our next biggest series...
@Oxeofresistance @RealTalk_PK As we often find, Sunnis tend to throw rocks while living in a glass house.
In this article, we expose how Sunni Hadith relies upon narrations of established drunkyards.

@Daniyal64587263 A historical analysis of Karbala:
- Why did it happen? (Was it Husayn's fault? Why did the Umayyads choose Yazid?)
- What was Husayn's decision? (Did he act hastily? What was his intention in going to Kufa?)
- Who killed and betrayed Yazid? (Do the Shi'a have any blame?)

Did the Prophet (SAW) appoint Abu Bakr as his successor?
According to this Sunni Rabbi, he did, but what was the opinion of the companions?

Ghadeer: Final objections
In our series of Ghadeer, we have covered in a concise yet informative way all the major concerns regarding Ghadeer.
Having completed these topics, we heard the feedback of our community and uploaded a final part to our Ghadeer series that addresses 4 common miscellaneous objections:
- Why didn't the Prophet declare Ghadeer on 'Arafah?
- Is Ghadeer Nass Khafi?
- Did Hasan al-Muthana (RA) reject Ghadeer's interpretation?
- Why did the Sahaba reject Ghadeer?
