We are having our first general member meeting of 2022 on February 1st @ 5:30 pm at Cunz Hall 160. We will review our progress with the mentorship program and advocacy projects and go over planned events including the case competition for the spring semester. (1/2)
Went to Sean’s grandmother’s funeral on Sunday. Not only did it make me feel happy about the full life she lived and hearing about her fierce independence and stubbornness, it also made me think of my own grandma who passed almost a year ago. Both lived life on their own terms.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I am mostly leaving 2021 deeply traumatized above anything else. It will take me years to recover. Years. And I reckon I’m not the only one who feels this way about this year. Let’s all be honest about our grief, our trauma & the endless losses.
Log off. Rest. Fight a punching bag. Do whatever it takes to get mental peace so we can come back and keep doing the work. But today man, today is a day when you have to really sit with yourself and your passport and think about what to do as this country works on your last nerve
I learned so little about Reconstruction growing up, and the little that was covered in APUSH neglected to highlight the truly harrowing terrorism perpetuated by whites. We are divorced from history, but not from its consequences or the ways it has shaped our systems.
