Introducing Shield, the first dApp for sharing confidential contents securely without privacy worries.
With Shield, you get to decide who sees and how they see what you share.
Here's an overview of what we shipped over the weekend.
- Upgraded file size limit from 100mb to 1gb for pro users. Now you can share up to 1GB of content + free users can now share up to 30mb from 20mb.
- Made an heavy refactor on our documentation, covering important topics and architectural overview. learn more - https://t.co/ppvEiwILYo
- Our dune analytic dashboard also got an upgrade. view - https://t.co/aOwQswPkwM
- Added logic for monitoring the links you have created (you can see if the recipient have opened the content, how many attempts and time of attempt).
- Migrated to reown appkit from web3modal for WEB3 auth.

Still day one.
When Shield v2 launched, the smart contract was also redeployed because we had to change a critical logic.
Before v2(v1) → On the receiver side of the dapp, we were sponsoring the gas fee. The logic worked like this, When the receiver opens the link and click on "Verify wallet ownership" they will be prompted to sign an authentication message in their wallet which does not incur fees after that the system verifies if they are the authorized recipient, if yes, a server wallet calls the logAttempt function and will log the attempt on the blockchain on their behalf making the entire process free of gas ($ETH)
In v2 → when the receiver opens the link and try to verify ownership, they will be prompted to sign the authentication message in wallet as usual after which they will be prompted to sign the log attempt function call if they are the authorized recipient.
This shift is not due to cost as gas fees on the base blockchain is relatively low, it was to eliminate doubt and ensure transparency of the system.
Finally, this is to inform you that our Dune dashboard has been updated with the latest smart contract and we will continue to update the dashboard as we make redeployments and will document here as well on the "WHY".
Still day one.
