I’ve always been one that doesn’t see a real difference in “taking inspiration” and “stealing art”. Just because the brain is like an enigma? You’ll either consciously or subconsciously take from everything else. If I see someone’s way of designing eyelashes and go “oh, I like that. Lemme do mine more like that.” It’s the same thing. Copyright is already so complicated, and this is in that vein. People will draw characters in an anime style, and everyone knows it’s an anime style when they see it. Yet they wouldn’t say they’ve been stealing art styles and designs from anime creators. Also, even if someone takes a specific artists style, imitates them perfectly, and makes a character that person has never made before at all, is that not new content? And lastly, even if everyone on earth was an artist, there will be a lot of people who will never get good at it. Practice and hard work will improve it, but not just anyone can be an expert.
