Shilo Harris Purple Heart recipient appears in the documentary film " VFAF Veterans for Trump - The Movement"
About Shilo: On his second deployment with the 10th Mountain Division he was assigned and worked near southern Baghdad. On February 19, 2007, Harris’ armored vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED). The explosion injured the driver and ended the lives of three of his fellow soldiers. Shilo survived but with severe third degree burns on 35% of his body. The severity of the burns meant the loss of Shilo’s ears, the tip of his nose and three fingers. The crushing explosion fractured his left collarbone and C-7 vertebrae.
The devastating injuries required that Shilo remain in a medically induced coma for 48 days; after, he spent nearly three years recovering and undergoing intensive physical therapy at the burn unit of Brooklyn Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, TX. While at BAMC, he was the first soldier to participate in cutting-edge regenerative stem-cell research to regrow his fingers, and later received prosthetic ears. Shilo’s recovery has involved more than 75 surgeries, which required his family to spend up to six hours a day on wound care.
Shilo also struggled from PTSD. In 2010 he was medically retired from the Army. Shilo reflects on his time in the service and his injuries: “Everything in life is a gift. Sometimes it may not be the gift you want but you realize that your challenges are a new beginning.”

Shilo Harris, a Purple Heart recipient and retired U.S. Army Cavalry Scout, is nationally known for his battlefield bravery, survival against impossible odds, and relentless advocacy for America’s wounded warriors. He brings both combat credibility and patriotic leadership to the VFAF movement.
Born and raised in Texas, Harris was deeply impacted by the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. At 27 years old, he enlisted in the United States Army and deployed to Iraq with the 10th Mountain Division. On February 19, 2007, while conducting a mission near Baghdad, his vehicle was hit by a devastating improvised explosive device (IED). The explosion killed three of his fellow soldiers and left Harris with severe burns over 35% of his body, the loss of both ears, part of his nose, several fingers, and multiple broken bones.
Harris spent 48 days in a medically induced coma and underwent more than 75 surgeries over the course of a three-year recovery at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. His story of physical and emotional healing—while also managing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)—captivated the nation and led him to become a motivational speaker, author of the book Steel Will, and a leading voice for veteran mental health and policy reform.
In joining VFAF in 2023, Harris stated his alignment with the America First agenda and his firm belief that Donald J. Trump is the right leader to restore strength and accountability in Washington. “President Trump fought for us, and now it’s our turn to fight for him. I stand with VFAF and proudly endorse Donald Trump as our next Commander-in-Chief,” said Harris.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt (@PressSec) prays in Jesus’ Name, asking Him to give her strength, wisdom, and the ability to articulate her words, before going out to answer questions at a press briefing. It is so encouraging to see people who believe in the power of prayer in this administration! God not only has the answers—He is the answer! https://t.co/mE4MVgGFv8

This was such an emotional event. I was so truly humbled. The tribute video they made was phenomenal and honored my friends. My friends, Adare, Matt, and Shawn, that didn't make it are the true heroes.
@thechaztaylor Thank you for the shirt and your friendship. You’re #badass brother. Keep making the world better…even if you have to break a few chairs and tables to do it! #thechamp#chaztaylor https://t.co/Kf5PVJQuhD
