also from the article: “after a fairly long silence, it is clear that he is not going to say another word about it and will not reveal the reason for the visit to austria.”
gulp.
Faker really deserves this recognition as the most prominent representative of esports as a whole. Spent more than a decade in the industry, continues to push age boundaries in a field that's often considered to be for younger people, and is still dominating despite everything and after all these years.
Not to mention that he's just a genuinely humble guy overall. #T1
jankos on why faker is a special player in his eyes:
“i feel like a lot of players retire quite early, especially the eastern players, given the military service in korea, but also given that i feel like lol pro player’s careers and lives are very strict and very full of being busy…and faker has been somebody who started playing a very long time ago, and he is still getting tremendous success. he has won worlds last year, he won worlds three times in a row, he went to finals four times in a row, and then even before that, he won many times before. so he’s currently having six stars to his name.”
“i feel like as somebody who is currently not actively playing anymore…i can really feel the respect to him because i know how difficult it can be to be a pro player, and i cannot compare myself to faker because faker is the greatest. he’s the highest you can be, and he won so many times. so he has been working so much, and i feel like his personality didn’t really change outside of the game…so i have a lot of respect for him, and i do like him as a fan, but i also have respect for him as somebody who competed in the same field.”
jankos is the best🤍
The only esports athlete honoured on TIME100 Most Influential People in Sports, our Faker is indeed the best and he always makes us proud no matter what he does. Congratulations Sanghyeok, whose efforts in esports shine so brightly and is acknowledged universally~🥰😍😘🤩☺️
Lee Sanghyeok (Faker) has long been regarded as the representative player of Korean esports. He also faced immense expectations at every international tournament. However, Lee Sanghyeok has always focused on his own growth rather than on external perspectives.
He said, “Rather than (worrying about) how other people think, I find greater meaning in developing myself while being a professional gamer.”
He continued, “I think external perspectives (such as attention and expectations) are not a burden, but rather something else (positive), like motivation. That’s probably why I don’t feel any burden.”
viendo a todos lados menos quedarse con la vista fija🥺 él tenía nudo en la garganta, la rabia que debió sentir porque se sentía bien todo el fin semana y no poder ni iniciar
