Seven out of ten primary schools have run at a deficit at some stage over the past 12 months and had to rely on cash reserves to cover day-to-day costs due to insufficient core funding from the State, according to a survey

One final slide from #PISA launch. Some large gender gaps now in Ireland and definite #DEIS gap remaining. And the gap likely to be underestimated. #edchatie
Today, I am announcing a new @Education_Ire Pilot Programme focused on Physical Activity in Teaching and Learning.
I am inviting schools across the country to apply for up to €10,000 in funding to support their projects.

Rumour has it the SET allocations are out imminently. I have examined the stats and it is clear that many schools have being under-allocated resources and children have not received the supports they deserve.

@Education_Ire@NormaFoleyTD1 This is outrageous. All schools will be expected to provide STEM education with the new curriculum. ALL schools should be funded.

Love these because they double as classroom decorations! ❄️
Need: Coloured paper, stapler, scissors, hole punch, string
Much easier than they look - full instructions on Twinkl. (I find it's also much better to staple them together than use tape)
Easy Art idea! 💡❄️
- Print & cut out snowflake templates
- Blue tac onto black card.
- Trace using chalk. Heavy lines and lots of different colours works best.
- Use fingers to smudge the chalk outline outwards and blend together. Leave the snowflake stuck on for this part!
Over the last few months, I've listened to hundreds of podcast episodes and organized them by topic. I created this blog post to be an easy, free reference for anyone who wants to learn more about the science of reading. I hope you find it helpful!

Last year's 6th class paintings 🎨👻
They were done over the course of a few days, with great results!
Watch out for: Some children went too hard with their blending and made a hole through their paper, some put too much paint on their paper which also resulted in a hole!
How children learn to read. It turns out that literacy development is anything but as easy as A, B, C, writes @patjburke@DCU_IoE@DCU https://t.co/g6lgMlCms4
“…we have more teachers in Ireland than ever before and the pupil-teacher ratio has never been lower.”
30 in my class and an unfilled fixed-term role in the school for the entire of last year 🤦🏻♀️
“On balance, it wasn’t a good idea”.
Government considered making doctors and nurses work in Ireland for a set period of time after their training.
