I’d say NO

Return by Death isn’t just Subaru’s ability, it’s the catalyst for his entire character arc.

Without it, he wouldn’t be put through the experiences that made him one of the best written protagonists in anime.

Watching Emilia go from someone who couldn’t even face her memories

to someone who accepted them, stood back up, and walked forward anyway has been one of my favorite character arcs in Re:Zero so far
