@SusieSpeller@IOPPublishing Also, gold gives very good plasmonic response except at near around 530 nm due to inter band transitions, having comparable electron density to silver which play a major role in plasmonic resonance. By alloying, this interband transition edge is shifted to a higher wavelength.

The reason behind the out-perform of alloy is due to change in energy levels cause a shift in energy of d-band due to alloying, which plays role in exhibiting plasmonic response or hotspots.
