UPDATE -- I've tried the 2nd editor, Kdenlive, and I do think it's better than CapCut in having more manual control over how your video looks (and sounds!)

Keyframing is much better, it's easier to organize clips, and I like how Zones eliminate the time spent cutting down clips

HOWEVER, things like clips not automatically having transform/volume adjustments, performance, me being unsatisfied with the effects, and OTHER smaller gripes led to me not finishing my project, and overall want to explore other options first.
