The worst sentiment around remakes is the idea that a remake allows developers to create the “true form” of whatever game is being remade. People act like developers were always imagining unreal engine looking games and any artistic expression in the original game was an accident
A lot of people these days don't seem to realize that criticism is just repackaged opinions/suggestions.
I could tell you how I feel about a game but at the end of the day you're the one buying and playing it.
Do I think the new visuals look ugly as hell ? 100%
But other people say they enjoy it so I'd say let them have it and enjoy themselves, I get where you're coming from but I've learned that not every game needs to cater to me specifically.
I think the worst part about how awful the OOT remake art fumble is how many people are defending it. Once upon a time we could have bullied these game companies into fixing their mistakes but people are just soydiving for the pre-order button while dismissing every criticism.
When something is too clean, too "perfect" it can feel sterile and unnatural.
I really Don't enjoy the visuals because its trying to look as realistic as possible in a fantasy setting like I'm looking at a life action film of a fairytale.
Imagine drawing a circle, it won't be perfect but ppl can tell you hand drew it. The more you try to make it look perfect the more ppl will think you used a circle tool to make it, so what was the point?
Like y'all know puppets are typically seen as scary and creepy ( in Western media ) where there's countless movies of creepy killer puppets.
Not to mention if you have a phobia of puppets, like this is such a turn off.
Apparently some of the inspo for the oot remake is the japanese puppets. And if true then their design decisions make sense. Like the enlarged eyes and overall long baby faces.
Its such a gorgeous concept. And if you can, read the thread. Has a lot of awesome info about it.
We didn't sit through 5 generations of ppl hating 3D pokemon and praising 2D sprites for y'all to just randomly start saying you enjoy the idea of 3D pokemon
@epichexmania Same, I like 2D & 3D pokemon but there is such a thing as " too detailed " to the point where art direction and stylized charm starts to fade.
Like, I don't want a mainline pokemon game to look like pokken tournament with DLSS 5
I'm actually really appreciative that Gamefreak enhanced their visuals while also maintaining an aesthetically pleasing art style that feels natural and not weirdly hyper realistic.
The entire "nintendo hire this man" joke was about soulless unreal engine realism without any art direction. you're missing the point of those memes and reporting your own media illiteracy if you apply it to a game that has art direction bursting from the seams in absurd excess
"Focus, L"
"It looks like AI"
"Nintendo hired that man"
"It looks like it was out through DLSS5"
"Grok-arina of Time"
"Somebody get that one Breaking Bad video"
